THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is an awesome epic that’s redemptive, explosive, entertaining, and riveting. The movie starts with Commissioner Gordon honoring Harvey Dent, although anyone who’s seen the last movie knows Harvey Dent turned to evil and became Two Face. THE DARK KNIGHT is not a very bad movie, although it seems to suggest in no uncertain terms that a hero can be a liar without tarnishing his heroic qualities. This is not a movie for children or young teenagers who may pick up scripts of bad behavior, however, though they probably will flock to the movie.
The Dark Knight, arguably the moodiest and most adult superhero motion picture ever to reach the screen, illustrates this lesson in ways that are startling and painful. This is a tough, uncompromising motion picture - one that defies the common notions of what is expected from a "superhero" film. The dialogue fizzes at all times, the character exchanges are more exciting than gunfire and there is a genuinely interesting psychological study at the root of it all.
